Thumbdrive Drive Letter

What happens if you plug your thumb drive into your computer and it doesn't assign a drive letter?

Chances are, it chose a drive letter that is conflicting with another drive.
Typically this happens in network situations when the admin assigns a new Mapped Network Drive.

Try this:

  1. right-click on "my computer" and left-click manage

  2. click "Disk Management" under "Storage"

  3. locate the drive that represents your thumb drive

  4. right click, select assign drive letter

  5. pick an unused drive letter

  6. click ok & you're done

Server 2008 Backup Option

Here is another option

Wbadmin start backup -backupTarget:\\[Server]\[Share name] -include:C:,D: -vssFull -quiet
