ISSUE: We have a customer running Windows XP Pro clients attached to a Windows 2003 server. They are all domain members. Occasionally the users will report that their workstation is locked and they cannot unlock it. A reboot is all the fixes it.
SOLUTION: Put the domain name in the user name field (eg: fixit.local\steve.adams). The unlock window doesn't have a third field to select the domain and for some reason windows appears to be looking locally. This tells the computer to use the domain account.

Free PDF Printers
We typically recommend BullZip PDF for personal and <10 commercial usage which works with GhostScript to print directly to a PDF file.
However, today we encountered a system that did not have the most recent windows updates, nor could we install them. A third party vendor has warned that updates will break their software.
Bullzip requires .NET 2.0. .NET 2.0 requires Windows XP Service Pack 2. So we were stuck.
PrimoPDF installed but never worked.
CutePDF (which works on GhostScript like Bullzip) was our next try. We installed GhostScript from their website, then installed CutePDF and tada!

windows xp outlook 2003 "messaging interface has returned an unknown error"
Customer has Windows XP SP3 Running Outlook 2003.
Outlook 2003 was attached to Hotmail (pre-connector) and it worked until very recently.
When it stopped working the hotmail profile was removed & the Outlook connector was installed. Suddenly they could now access hotmail but their local pop3 account stopped to function.
the message we see begins when you click new, once outlook is open, "The Messaging interface has returned an unknown error"
So far i've tried:
1) repairing outlook
2) remove contents of MAPI32 folder & allowing Outlook to rebuild it
3) Register ole32.dll
4) Perform all pending updates
5) Uninstall Outlook Hotmail Connector
